Emergency medical technicians provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients. They are the link between the scene of a medical incident and the health care system. This certificate program gives students the complex knowledge and skills necessary to test for EMT certification and licensure. The required courses train students on the basics of medical intervention, rescue equipment and working within the larger system. Graduates will be qualified to take the national certification exam through the National Registry of EMTs and to apply for state licensing through the Missouri Department of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. This program includes all prerequisites required to join OTC’s paramedic program and is the first step for students who want to obtain the A.A.S in Paramedicine.
The Paramedicine Program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP). The program is also accredited by the Missouri Department of the Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
