Paramedicine Certificate

Paramedics are first-response medical professionals who can intervene in emergency situations and provide pharmacological solutions. They operate like EMTs, but paramedics can conduct a broader range of intervention measures. Paramedics must be able to quickly assess a situation and provide care with minimal risk to patients. The Paramedicine Certicate Program gives students the complex knowledge and skills necessary to become paramedics in less time than the A.A.S. in Paramedicine Degree Program. The required courses utilize clinics and field internships to train students to perform advanced medical interventions, assess traumatic injuries and work within the larger system. The Paramedicine Program has a selective admissions process that requires students to have satisfied all requirements for the Certificate of Specialization in EMT prior to entering the program. This program requires a separate application; for application materials and deadlines, visit the program website. Graduates will be qualified to take the paramedic certification exam through the National Registry of EMTs and to apply for licensing through the Missouri Department of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

The Paramedicine Program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP). The program is also accredited by the Missouri Department of the Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
